A conversation with Argonne's Katrin Heitmann

Globus recently saw the biggest single file transfer in our history: a team led by Argonne National Laboratory scientists moved 2.9 petabytes of data on the Summit system at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, as part of a research project involving three of the largest cosmological simulations known to date

We sat down with Dr. Katrin Heitmann, Argonne physicist and computational scientist and the lead researcher on this project, to get details on the project and why she uses Globus.

After careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue the data publication functions of the Globus service. This action only affects data publication functions—it does not affect core Globus services, such as file transfer, data sharing, and the management console, in any way.

We first announced this decision in February 2019 to customers affected by the decision, and we have worked with them to transition their data and metadata to other systems, prior to our discontinuing the service on September 30, 2019.

July 22, 2019 | For Immediate Release

Globus, the leading research data management service, today announced the general availability of Globus for Box, a new solution for seamlessly connecting Box with an organization’s existing research storage ecosystem.

With the Globus for Box connector, researchers can easily move and share data stored in Box using the same Globus interface they use to access other storage systems, enhancing collaboration and the ability to fulfill data management plan requirements.
