The Globus Flows service will be briefly unavailable starting at 3:30 pm US Central on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in order to accommodate database upgrades. We anticipate this downtime will be less than ten minutes.

Funding from the National Science Foundation and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) will support parallel programming enabler Parsl as it enters a new phase of sustainability, community, and outreach.

As the scale of scientific research grows larger, so too do the barriers. Data-intensive and computation-heavy work across all fields can benefit from parallel computing and high-performance resources, but not everyone knows how to scale up from a laptop to a supercomputer.

When XSEDE, NSF’s national cyberinfrastructure from 2011 to 2021, was first established, it subscribed to the then-new Globus data transfer service to provide a universal data fabric spanning XSEDE resource providers. This collaboration played a vital role in bootstrapping the Globus service and also allowed Globus to meet expanding XSEDE needs for data services over the following decade, as evidenced by the 16.7 PB transferred to or from XSEDE resources by more than 1,300 researchers in 2021 alone.
