Globus CoG Kit Projects

A number of projects are being or have been undertaken in the area of CoG Kits. On this page we summarize a subset of these projects.

Java CoG Kit

The Java CoG Kit is part of the Globus Project. It combines the use of the Java framework with Grid technologies in order to enable the development of the next generation of Grid Services at a higher level of abstraction.

Grid Software Development Kit (SDK)

An architecture independent abstraction layer that provides true inter-operability across multiple Grid implementations. An initial prototype implemented in Java providing access to Globus Toolkit versions 2 and 3.

Active Chemical Tables

In this project we expose complex Chemistry applications as web services. Easy access to these services is enabled through Java Webstart, and a Web-based portal powered by Jetspeed. This application will be able to gather meta data collaboratively, augment it with pedigree information and use it to increase the accuracy of the chemical tables.

Jetspeed Grid Portal

In this project we will reuse the Java CoG Kit to create a Grid portal powered by the Jetspeed engine. Simple portlets for authentication, job submission, file management, and information services will be provided.

GridAnt: Client-side Grid Workflow System

A client-side workflow management system that assists users to orchestrate complex client-side workflows to interact with different versions of the Globus Toolkit (GT3 and GT2).

Grid Services Flow Language

A project to evaluate existing efforts to define flows between Web and Grid services. A prototype for the Grid Services Flow Language is provided as a test case to evaluate usability.

Workflow Editor

A project to design and implement a simple workflow editor that can be used either to create and manage jobs as part of a dependency graph, or to visually compose Grid Services.

File Transfer Component

A project to design and implement a component that allows the copying of files between various resources via a convenient drag and drop interface. Multiple protocols such as GridFTP, GSIFTP, WebDAV, LDAP are supported.

JXTA Broker Service

A project to use JXTA to create a peer-to-peer broker service and a virtual organization service.
